There are lots of advantages in fishing off a mother ship! Most important is the ability to visit remote locations where the action is usually much better than more heavily visited areas. As any travelling is usually done at night, clients are often fishing within minutes of leaving the main vessel in the morning. Most days, crews will return to the mother ship for a leisurely lunch before heading out for the afternoon session that can extend almost until darkness.
Fishing time is therefore maximised. No more hour-long bumpy rides back to the boat ramp each day. And being greeted by the crew with a beer and nibblies as you walk back on to the big boat really tops off any fishing day!
